FRANK BASILE

  • Has written more than 1,400 articles for publications, including a weekly column on management and personal skills for 20 years for the Indianapolis Business Journal.
  • Currently writes a column about his travels titled, "The Traveling Life", for the Indianapolis Business Journal.

  • Received the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership Award.  Received the "Excellence Award for Individual Contribution to Human Resources Development" from the Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).
  • Apartment management industry activities: member of the National Faculty and the Academy of Authors of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and a Certified Property Manager (CPM).  Former national vice president of the National Apartment Association (NAA), former president of the Apartment Association of Indiana (AAI) and former chairman of the RAM Board of Governors of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).  Received the Professional Builder Apartment Management Achievement Award and the NAHB RAM of the Year Award.

  • Received the Business Volunteer/Patron Award (ARTI) from the Arts Council of Indianapolis, the Sagamore of the Wabash from Indiana Governor Frank O'Bannon, the Community Service Award from Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson, 2005 Spirit of Philanthropy Award from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, the 2006 Outstanding Philanthropist Award from the Indiana Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (http://www.afpic.org) and 2007 Theater Person of the Year from the Indiana Theatre Association (http://www.intheatre.org). 
  • Graduate of Tulane University School of Business Administration, where he graduated as class valedictorian and student body president.  Listed in Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in Real Estate, Who's Who in Finance and Industry and Who's Who in Sales and Marketing.

All proceeds from his speaking engagements are used to fund philanthropic activities, including the annual Emerging Stories Fellowship of Storytelling Arts of Indiana and various programs at the Indianapolis Art Center, the Phoenix Theatre, the Herron School of Art and Design, Southeast Neighborhood Development (SEND), the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Indiana Historical Society, etc.

 

One of his topics, as well as one of his hobbies, is travel and he is a member of Travelers' Century Club, an organization of people who have traveled to at least 100 countries.
